With the world as it currently is, mental health has become a focus of our society in our modern times with events like the 2008 recession, which created financial uncertainty. Then 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic was a catastrophic event that disconnected human beings socially and emotionally for the first time since the 1918 Spanish flu, the previous pandemic of this magnitude, with a world that is connected socially through social media which is causing mental disorders of comparisons lacking proof social distraction and an infinite influx of information that is not always accurate. News channels show us and promote negative news for ratings and to be the most watched stations for personal interest as in suppose to report truth or positivity. It’s no wonder, in today's day and age, so much fear, anxiety, and depression exist within human beings. Everything they show is negative most of the time. Still, they don’t have the understanding and awareness that the design of the brain is to be attracted instinctively by negativity as a survival mechanism given to us by Mother Nature. Most human beings live their lives from the limbic sections of their brains. The limbic part of the brain is where our emotional reactions and primitive impulses are. Human beings don't know how to deal with negative emotions that stem from this section of the brain by using strategies of replacing a negative thought with a positive one, accountability groups, or putting themselves in positive environments that teach to develop and grow individuals how to handle their human experience. They’re just missing the right direction and wisdom to discover that they don’t have to be victims to their minds and negative thoughts but are actually in charge of their lives. We need to prioritize promoting reading books, not just to increase focus and knowledge. Still, human wisdom is born as they experience life with learned information from books that will lead to the outcome of changed behavior.
Human beings will learn to start looking at the big picture and use long-term thinking that will lead to better life decisions and choices. We need to ensure that short-term thinking stops taking priority because, as we all know, instant gratification quickly passes by while delayed gratification is the secret to everlasting happiness in life and to the real rewards of life that can only time and through consistent actions of bettering oneself. We must teach people to stop indulging in their life experiences, giving up long-term joy for momentary happiness. Show them that earning small wins is the key to the meaning, courage, confidence, and fulfillment they seek. Teach them to get out of their routines that keep leading them to the same outcomes but instead jump into the uncomfortable where life is born in the unknown. Only by doing things we've never done can we become someone we’ve never been. We need them to start using the frontal part of their brains and make decisions from logic and wisdom. Every day build on that and develop habits of positive doing. The work ahead of us as a world is long and arduous, but ultimately this is what it means to be human. To choose contribution and the betterment of everyone around us. If you read this, we hope this inspires you to serve and contribute to the situation at hand of mental health that we all need to be a part of discovering the solution. These are our brothers and sisters that are just unaware. It’s time to bring them hope because humanity is powerful. Once we take a stand and make a decision to inspire and serve everyone around us, that’s when miracles are born.
